The thyristor circuit is used to convert DC power to AC power. This reverse process corresponding to rectification is defined as inverter. For example: an electric locomotive using a thyristor, when the DC motor is braked to run when descending a slope, the position of the locomotive is converted into electrical energy and sent back to the AC grid.
